Timing is Everything! - Street Photography Workshop in Amsterdam on August 1 (Only last spot left)

“I feel like I’m always too late to capture the situation well”

This is something I hear a lot from street photographers. You notice an interesting situation, but by the
time you raise your camera or find your position, the moment is gone. That’s why this workshop focusses on timing, and catching the right moment.

Join me for an afternoon of street photography in Amsterdam, where we’ll work on the street photographers’ mindset of quick decision-making. I’ll guide you through the process of approaching a scene in order to get the best view and angle of the situation.

What you’ll learn:
︎Spot interesting subjects before the moment unfolds
︎Read a scene quickly and position yourself with intention
︎Know when to move, and when to wait
︎Recognise the exact moment to press the shutter
︎Capture the streets with more clarity, timing and confidence

NEWLY INCLUDED
We’ll meet again online, preferrably the day after (August 2, 11 am) with the same group for a review session. You’ll have the chance to present 5 of your images, and we’ll reflect on each other’s work together. The session will help you better understand your own photography and make stronger, more intentional images.

“The most valuable part was the review session, where we looked at each other’s photographs and Julie shared her perspective on the work. I went through a bit of a creative rollercoaster afterwards, but with Julie’s feedback I was able to make stronger edits and a better selection.”

- Ruben

My question for this workshop was: how can I get closer in a comfortable way through street photography? I managed to achieve this at the skate park by finding a place where the skaters kept coming back. This gave me time to practice and to explore different compositions that felt right for the scene. Thank you for this insightful and enjoyable afternoon!
