Learn to see, quickly anticipate and capture special moments in Bologna’s late afternoon light (June 17)

Street Photography Workshop

Do you find it difficult to recognise interesting situations to photograph, and do you often feel like you’re always too late? During this afternoon workshop, I’ll show you how to spot scenes and subjects, even before they unfold. You’ll learn how to move quickly toward a situation while predicting movement and reading the light. In this way you’ll develop a more intentional approach to photographing compelling street sceneries.

What you’ll learn:
︎Choosing your ideal position on the street
︎Spotting situations from a distance
︎Predicting the movement of subjects
︎Setting up your camera for the best results
︎Getting closer to the scene
︎Making quick decisions

Price
︎Early bird €115

Limited spots!
Max 6 participants

“It’s a great opportunity to slow down, observe more carefully, and see how differently people can interpret the same streets and moments.” (Katya)
“It was quite different from other photowalks that I've been part of (...). Here, I found it quite satisfying to actually work towards making a photograph and involving all senses to do so.” (Koushik)
“The combination of Julie’s way of looking at scenes as they unfold on the street, having time to immediately apply this through individual assignments, and discussing the images the next day was incredibly valuable.” (Ruben)

After this workshop you’ll:
︎Recognise potential situations in everyday street scenes
︎Anticipate and read the movement of your subjects
︎React faster and make intentional photographic decisions
︎Overcome hesitation and approach situations with more clarity and ease

BONUS
︎Group feedback session (max 5 photos per person), in an online video call
*date to be arranged according to availability

What makes this course different from other workshops?
This course is not primarly about camera settings and technology, but about learning how to see and how to move on the street. It focuses on your ability to read situations as they unfold, and how to use your camera to achieve the result you want.

“Feeling more confident on the streets!”(Alan)
It gave me a real boost to get back out on the streets with my camera. (Paula)
“Julie also inspired us with her unique perspective in the street, refreshing my own understanding of street photography. I would recommend her workshop to everyone who’s interested in street photography, whatever level you are at.” (Gongbu)
